Nature experiences you can have in Furano
Furano is best known for lavender fields and ski slopes. But there is more to it than that. A short drive from town, rivers and forest open into the kind of scenery Hokkaido is made of.
A downriver trip, drifting along in a boat, brings you to a Furano that sightseeing on foot never reaches. The sound of the water, the smell of the forest, the breeze across the surface, and the view changing as you move: none of it exists anywhere but on the river.

Guide & Safety
Our guide, and how we think about safety
Shota Kose, HOO's representative, has more than 20 years as an outdoor guide. He is a Hokkaido Governor-certified Outdoor Guide (Rafting / Canoe) and holds Rescue3 SRT-1 and Advanced First Aid certification, with guiding experience on rivers across Japan. Whether a trip runs is decided on the day, based on the weather and the state of the river, and we would rather not run than push it.

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, all HOO activities require advance booking. Once you know your date, contact us by form or phone as early as you can.
How do I fit this into my Furano itinerary?
We share the duration and meeting point when you book, so if your plans are already set, send them along with your enquiry and we'll suggest a time that works.
Can I take part outside summer?
The season depends on the state of the river. Once you know when you'd like to come, check with us by form or phone.
